About
From an early age, Simon's creativity knew no bounds. As a child, he transformed simple cardboard boxes into intricate imaginative creations, and his passion for art only grew as he excelled in graphics and art at school. It was at Sutton College, however, where Simon truly found his artistic voice, immersing himself in creative classes and discovering a profound love for mixed media and watercolour painting.
The lockdown period marked a pivotal moment in Simon's artistic journey. As a carer facing immense challenges, he turned to painting as a daily refuge. The spontaneity and delicate beauty of watercolours provided solace and inspiration, prompting him to dive deeper into his craft through numerous online courses and in-person classes at Sutton College. This period catalysed a significant evolution in his artistic style and commitment.
Simon's dedication to his art led him to join the Carshalton and Wallington Art Group in October 2021. He quickly became an active and valued member, contributing to the group's vibrant community. By 2022, he had also joined the Carshalton Artists, where his vivid watercolours of local scenes began to garner widespread recognition. For the past three years, Simon has been a cherished participant in the Open Studios Trail, enchanting visitors with his evocative portrayals of Carshalton's landscapes.
In 2024, Simon received a life-changing diagnosis of ADHD. This revelation not only validated his intense creative drive but also ignited a passionate mission to raise awareness about neurodiversity. Through his art, Simon seeks to capture the imagination and aspirations of others, offering a profound glimpse into the neurodiverse experience. His project, "Head in the Clouds," stands as a testament to his dreams of becoming an established artist and sharing the unique perspectives of those with ADHD through his evocative watercolours.
